GORDON J F HUMPHREYS
MSOE MIRTE BA(HONS)
MANAGING DIRECTOR-SENIOR TACHOGRAPH CONSULTANT &EXPERT
Gordon is often referred to, by those introducing him, as ‘The Tachograph Guru’ with a wealth of knowledge and experience in the analysis and understanding of EC Drivers’ Hours and Tachograph Regulations, Working Time Directive and GB Domestic Regulations.
He and Foster Tachographs & Transport Compliance are often called in, by leading Transport Solicitors, to ‘sort the wheat from the chaff’ when the Enforcement Authorities have come knocking, and Summonses and Public Inquiries have been served.
As a consequence, Gordon has worked on many high-profile cases seen in the trade press over the last 20-30 years, ranging from the Bucks Fizz coach crash in the 1980’s to the Howard Snaith Coaches conspiracy allegations (not guilty was the verdict) in the current decade.
He has also developed compliance systems which have been described as the ‘Gold Standard*’ for the transport industry and has continued to evolve these to move with the times and the expectations of the DVSA, the Traffic Commissioners and the Courts.
As Gordon states “Long gone are the days where only the horrendous Operators went before the Courts or the Traffic Commissioner, the expectations of compliance and road safety for a responsible Operator has moved on and an Operator’s system must not only be robust but also seen to be effective. If it is not tested, audited and improvements made where necessary, then an Operator leaves themselves open to criticism and action by the Enforcement authorities.”
Having worked on so many cases ranging from EC Drivers’ Hours and Tachograph Regulations, Corporate Manslaughter, Conspiracy and Causing Death by Dangerous Driving and having attended Crown Courts (including The Old Bailey), Magistrates Courts and Public Inquiries around the UK he is correctly positioned to give Operators the benefit of his expertise, knowledge and experience to assist them in implementing and maintaining compliant systems.
